How to Get a Domain and Hosting

I’ve chosen to use LimeDomains to show you how to get a domain name and hosting because they offer great prices on domains. Also, free lifetime hosting is included when you purchase a domain and they have live 24/7 chat support.

Step One: Go to http://limedomains.com

Step Two: Search for a domain, or maybe 10.

Step Three: Choose between .com, .net, .info, etc.

Step Four: If you would like, you can get private registration*.

*When you purchase a domain, some of your information may become public. To prevent this, choose private registration. It protects all of your information from becoming available to others.

Step Five: Choose your hosting plan. When you purchase a domain, you get free basic hosting for life. If the basic plan is not good enough, you may upgrade to standard or premium hosting. A hosting plan chart can be found here.

Step Six: Before you do anything, look for this box at the bottom left corner of the page. To save money, search the web for a LimeDomain’s Coupon Code. You may be able to get up to 30% off your order. Now that you’ve entered a coupon code, check out.

That’s all! You now have a domain and hosting.

How to Create a Successful Website

You have an amazing new idea for a website. This idea will generate you thousands, possibly millions of dollars a month. But you worry about one thing, how will I make it successful? How do I make users come back for more? How do I generate new users? These tips will help you with your struggle.

Social Media is your friend

One major factor in creating a successful website is to put yourself out there. The best way to do this is by whoring social media like it is your job! Register a Twitter account for your new website, and post links to the latest content on your website. This is an easy way of getting the latest content from your website out to your community. Also, create a Facebook page for your website. This is a great way for people to get the latest news on their Facebook Feed when they sign on.

Simplicity is key

Keep your website simple. You will confuse users if your website is cluttered with content and images. A good example of a cluttered website is TechnoBuffalo. Website's like this try to jam too much content onto the homepage. You only need one column of the latest post's on your website, and then separate pages for other subjects. For example, if you have a website about all things technology, keep the latest post's on the front page in one column, and then if you have one category about reviews, make it a complete separate page where all of the post's about that category can go.

Advertise

If your website has a budget, then find websites that have large audiences and ask the person in charge if you could advertise on their website.

Use RSS

Another great way for your website's content to get out is to have an RSS feed. A lot of people use RSS readers to get content from their favorite website's. Make sure that your website has an RSS feed!

Get Feedback!

If you are looking at constantly improving your content, then create a feedback system! Even if its a simple form on your website. This will allow you to see what your users like about your website, and what they don't. Make sure to improve your website all the time!

Start an Extra Income Work at Home Business with a Theme Web Site

This article was originally posted at http://www.jakeculpmedia.com/the-blog/2010/8/25/start-an-extra-income-work-at-home-business-with-a-theme-web.html

Many are starting extra income work at home businesses doing what they love by creating web sites on subjects whom they know about and enjoy. The net offers a great opportunity to turn any knowledge, passion, skills or hobbies into a part time business for extra money and the ability to grow the business into a full time opportunity that makes great money. The way this is done is by providing useful and unique pages of content on the site that is providing information about a theme. With a combination of people looking for information on a subject and supplying those pages on a web site about the subject or theme one does well with the search engines, get traffic wanting toe information on the site and in turn produce income off the pages in many different ways.

Getting the traffic is the tough part, at least in the beginning. Without visitors who actually want the information on the site coming into the site making money will be difficult. So any extra income work at home theme site needs to understand how to bring the traffic in. The search engines provide most of the best traffic on the net, and it is not brain surgery on how to get the traffic from them. Just understand what the search engines are looking for and then giving it to them are all that is involved.

To be successful with an extra income work at home business using a web site getting traffic and being able to produce income from traffic is going to come down to the quality of the site. People who discover the sites are going to have to like what is on the site and the pages are going to have to provide what they were looking for. Without people liking the information on the site they will not make purchases and without content on the site the search engines will never give the pages top rankings to get the traffic.

The competition can be fierce as well because there is only so many sites that get the top rankings for a page and the keyword in which it is based. This is why for an extra income work at home web site it is best to find a niche which is not as competitive. This makes it much easier to bring in traffic from the search engines and not have to compete with big sites. Coming up with a profitable niche takes a little time and research, but eventually you will be able to find a bunch of non competitive keywords, that provide a niche theme that will be easy to win over. Keep the niche on something you know, and that you are sure can be turned into a valuable resource site on the niche theme people will trust.

By building the site on a theme and discovering a niche which has demand from keywords, meaning people are looking for information, and also that there are not millions of other sites competing for will produce profitable results quickly. The little trick here is to come up with a broad theme and then keep seeing how it can be brought down into a niche concept with enough demand. For example, if a theme is sports than that can be broken down to baseball but baseball is still too broad. By looking at keywords you mat discover that there is a ton of searches for a single team or perhaps a certain area of baseball such as stadiums. A niche web site theme can be built around such a niche by becoming the site that is the best resource on a baseball team or a resource on all the baseball stadiums. Income can be made by selling tickets, books, clothing and more because the visitors will have an interest in the subjects and topics of the site.

Finding a profitable niche theme for a web site makes it easier and quicker to get an extra income work at home business with a web site off the ground. It becomes much more difficult to dominate the search engines with broad and competitive web site themes and keywords because everyone is competing for them. It will take much more time and work to eventually be able to pull in the traffic required to make income in this manner. By focusing on areas which no one else is covering yet people are looking for information on means that the site gets search engine exposure and that the traffic needed comes in and with targeted interested traffic comes great income opportunities, which can be taken advantage of with advertising, affiliate programs, services and hard goods.

Web Hosting Basics

This article was originally posted at http://www.jakeculpmedia.com/the-blog/2010/8/24/web-hosting-basics.html

Web hosting is the technology that makes a website visible and accessible on the World Wide Web. Different types of web hosting plans are available in the market and you can choose one that fits into your budget and serves your requirements.

Shared web hosting is the most popular as it is affordable and reliable at the same time. Dedicated server is also known as dedicated hosting. It is mainly aimed at being a hosting solution for major online businesses with a powerful server that serves you alone. There are two types of dedicated hosting, unmanaged and managed. Managed dedicated hosting is used only when you do not want to handle anything else other than the onsite content. Unmanaged is used when you want to be in charge of the server. Virtual private server hosting is the bridge between shared hosting and dedicated hosting. VPS hosting is a form of web hosting that displays virtualization of server being split into several virtual servers. It is fast becoming the most sought after web hosting technology.

The world has turned into a global village with the multitude of web hosting options that have surfaced. Even small businesses can now think of having an online presence due to the availability of extremely affordable web hosting services. Web hosting companies help you to run a site, which will feature the information, images, audio files and other resources conveying your brand message. They provide a customer or user with a server space on which he can store files. With this hosting system you can create several e-mail accounts on your websites which portrays professionalism and enhances customer reliability for the business ones.

Advertising is also one of the benefits one can gain from hosting services. Customers are also benefited. This gives a small business the opportunity to compete with a larger and established business organization. These days web hosting is a captivating business and provides opportunities to individual who can act as resellers for web hosting companies. This is a good way of earning some income by selling space on your server to chosen clients.

Improvements I would like to see made to Squarespace

I have been a fond user of the Squarespace platform currently and in the past on my old 'JonnyisGeek' website. Though I have had a great experience so far, I would like to see some features being generated into the mix.

  • Threaded Comments and Forum Posts - It's hard to reply to a certain user in the comments. There is no 'reply' button and yes, you may be able to @username them within the comments, but they don't get alerted about your reply.
  • Social Buttons - A social widget has been out for a while now, but if you want to customize the list of networks you're on with images, you need to find those images and code them into your website. You could say, well website owners have experience with HTML, CSS and the rest of it, but some don't. As you could probably tell, some website editors are used to applications like Dreamweaver and iWeb, which Squarespace doesn't require you to use.
  • Podcast Hosting & Playout - I've only recently started podcasting, but I would love, and it would benefit Squarespace so much, for them to host podcasts and define a player for them to play on. Websites such as TWiT and Revision 3 would benefit, as they are podcast and vodcast networks and bloggers like myself would benefit as sometimes posts can't be put into written words, images or video.
  • Squarespace Version 6 - This hasn't been spoken about since Squarespace developer, Tyler Thompson tweeted out about it in September last year. Yes, nearly a full 10 months ago. It would be great to fork out a whole new management system and see if not all of the features spoken about in this post, some as it would attract more and more people into using Squarespace instead of using cheap, unreliable hosting.

Let me know your thoughts and let's see if we can get this post passed around some of the Squarespace team and developers.

Send this out if you would like to help.
