Habits Of Happy People

Many people spend their whole lives chasing happiness. They work to extreme exhaustion and do their best to acquire material things in an effort to live a happy life. Many people wait until they’re rich, or when they lose weight before they can say that they are truly happy.

But the truth is, happiness does not come from something external. It does not come from perfect looks, wealth, or even living a perfect life. If you want to be truly happy, you have to learn to practice the habits of happy people.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. - Aristotle

If we change our habits, we can change our life.

Is the Wii U Going to Be a Success?

The Wii U is Nintendo's latest and greatest games console. This is the successor to the immensely popular Wii which launched in 2006 and was revoloutionary at the time with its motion control gaming. This time round Nintendo have introduced a new type of controller, one which none of us have ever seen before. The Wii U controller is now more like a tablet device with controls seen around the bezel of the screen. The idea being that extra information can be shown on the gamepads screen such as a map, inventory or can even act as a individual screen whilst playing games. However Nintendo have announced a series of different controllers that are compatible with the new Wii U console there is of course the gamepad wit the touch screen in the middle as shown above, the classic wiimote and numchuck as well as a new controller that is a cross between a Xbox 360 controller and the current Classic Controller Pro already for the Wii.

The Wii U is has had a boost in graphics sinse the Wii, the Wii U now featured HD graphics which it desperately needed as the Wii graphics were dated even back in 2006. Now with the increase in resoloution it will hopefully allow more detailed and realistic looking games to the Wii U a thing that the Wii struggled to do and developers chose to give games a cartoon aesthetic to hide the Wii's glaring problems.

Nintendo held their presentation yesterday at E3 and many people felt underwhelmed. Nintendo spoke briefly about the possiblities of the WiiU and how it is going to be used in a home enviroment. They also announced a few new games for the WiiU platform including Super Mario  Bros U, Pikmin 3, Lugi Mansion and Nintendoland. However these first party games weren't particuarly new or innotative, the new Super Mario game looked literally a clone of the Super Mario Bros game already on the Wii console.

The main thing that is of concern here is price which is yet to be revealed by Nintendo. For the Wii U to be successful it has to be at the right price point as at the moment there aren't may compelling reasons to upgrade to if you are a current Wii owner. Yes, more third party titles are going to come the Wii U such as Batman: Arkham City and ZombiU, which taylor to the hardcore gamers. The gamepad seems to be the unique selling point to the console and its going to be interesting how much it is going to be for the gamepad and if you want a two player experience that is going to add up over time.

5 Reasons Why Apple Is Successful

Many of us on TekSocial are huge Apple fans. That goes without saying. With the recent resignation of Steve Jobs as CEO, I think it is a good time to have a look back on why Apple is so successful, and will continue being so. First off, I'd just like to say these are my opinions on how Apple has become so successful, and I'm happy for you all to post your comments on how you feel about the reasons, and add any that you feel are neccesary.

Note, These are no specific order.

1. Experience - Apple has been in the technology industry for 35 Years! That gives them the edge on newer industrys, as they have that kind of knowledge of the technology market, and know what consumers want. (Now don't get me wrong, Apple has made a couple of mistakes in the past, but nobody is perfect)

2. Innovation - When innovation comes to mind, we all think 'futuristic' am I right? Well that is exactly what Apple are, they produce products that nobody would have ever thought of for another 10, 20 years.

3. Constant change - Now when I say constant change, what I mean is that Apple changes their own competitors market by themselves. Apple has a very positive history of being able to 'innovate' new products into the market, which then puts their competitors on the back foot, as they are years behind them.

4. Marketing - Myself & friends are always talking about the latest ways that Apple has found to advertise their products, most notably their TV commercials. Apple has potentially the best marketing experts in the world working on how to promote their product. Most notably, I remember the first iPad commercial, at the perfect time at Superbowl half time break.

5. Creativity - This is very much like Innovation, but the two together are basically what make Apple what it is today. Apple creates/innovates new products, so well, again their competitors find it hard to keep up with them. And with competitors that are behind them, Apple is always going to be on top.

I understand guys that this is really 4 reasons, as 2 of them are pretty much the same thing, but these I feel are the main reasons Apple is so successful in todays business.

How to Create a Successful Website

You have an amazing new idea for a website. This idea will generate you thousands, possibly millions of dollars a month. But you worry about one thing, how will I make it successful? How do I make users come back for more? How do I generate new users? These tips will help you with your struggle.

Social Media is your friend

One major factor in creating a successful website is to put yourself out there. The best way to do this is by whoring social media like it is your job! Register a Twitter account for your new website, and post links to the latest content on your website. This is an easy way of getting the latest content from your website out to your community. Also, create a Facebook page for your website. This is a great way for people to get the latest news on their Facebook Feed when they sign on.

Simplicity is key

Keep your website simple. You will confuse users if your website is cluttered with content and images. A good example of a cluttered website is TechnoBuffalo. Website's like this try to jam too much content onto the homepage. You only need one column of the latest post's on your website, and then separate pages for other subjects. For example, if you have a website about all things technology, keep the latest post's on the front page in one column, and then if you have one category about reviews, make it a complete separate page where all of the post's about that category can go.

Advertise

If your website has a budget, then find websites that have large audiences and ask the person in charge if you could advertise on their website.

Use RSS

Another great way for your website's content to get out is to have an RSS feed. A lot of people use RSS readers to get content from their favorite website's. Make sure that your website has an RSS feed!

Get Feedback!

If you are looking at constantly improving your content, then create a feedback system! Even if its a simple form on your website. This will allow you to see what your users like about your website, and what they don't. Make sure to improve your website all the time!
