Twitter - "Why The Heck Not?"

I've been using Twitter for a couples weeks now and I still haven't quite understood the real point or objective behind it. So far, all I've gotten out of it is that it's a service that connects it's users with one another telling what they are all up to.To me, it's more of something I do whenever I'm bored. For example, I'm bored with my iPod Touch in a WiFi hotspot. What do I do? Well, why not Tweet.

Twitter is actually a lot of fun because of the audiences you can reach with it. It also raises a competition between friends and other people world-wide to see how many followers or, in YouTube terms, subscribers you can get.

Though I wouldn't call it a social networking service when compared to services like MySpace and FaceBook, it still is a fun and useful little "widget" for when you need a little something to do.

A lot of my friends have recently gotten Twitter accounts and it makes it easier for us to see what someone is doing. For instance, if I wanted to hang out with my friend Tom, I could just open up Twitter.com or Twitterific on my iPod Touch and see what he is up to. If he's busy, I'll save a minute or two by not calling. However, if he's not, I can now call him and even use Twitter to find his current location making finding Tom easier than ever.

Personally, I think Twitter is a little widget of life that makes connecting the world faster and easier than before. It's a concept of technology that will probably be used in the future for even more sophisticated tasks. But for now, it's a great service that is convenient and fun.
