First Impression: Google Latitude

I decided to try Google Latitude after much anticipation. I launched the web app & signed in with my Gmail account. I didn’t have any friends, so I had to “add friends.” I entered my friends e-mail & told her to get on Google Latitude on her iPhone & accept my request.

She had three options: “accept & share (location)”, “accept & hide (location)” or “deny.” She accepted & shared her location. Within seconds I could pin point where she was at (right next to me) on the map. Google Latitude works in real time so it’s always up to date.

Unfortunately, Google Latitude doesn’t update if you’re friends get offline. I hope Apple allows this web app to become an official iPhone app in the near future. Overall, Google Latitude is amazing! Grade: A-
