Gizmodo Raid: Apple says the iPhone was stolen

We all know about the iPhone 4G, as it was leaked over the internet by Gizmodo. The Gizmodo editor bought the iPhone prototype for $5,000 from the person who found it.

Many legal issues were raised as the iPhone wasn't stolen, it was left in a bar by Gray Powell. Jason Chen (Gizmodo Editor) had his house raided by the Rapid Enforcement Allied Computer Team (REACT). They took from his house all his laptops hard drives, USB devices, etc. The search was ordered after Apple had reported that the iPhone prototype was stolen. The problem is that the iPhone wasn't technically stolen; it was left at the bar.

Mr. Chen's lawyers are defending him and they say that he is covered under the California Shield Law. The California Shield Law states that journalists have the right to protect their unpublished material from examination. Also, he said that the police knew the identity of the person who took the iPhone and had talked to him.

Personally I think it was wrong for REACT to raid Mr. Chen's house. The iPhone wasnt "stolen" like Apple said it was. It was left at a bar, but was it right for him to pay $5,000?

Now that the iPhone 4G is leaked and everyone knows about it, now thanks to Gizmodo, what will Apple do at WWDC, which is being held on June 7th? Are they just going to release the iPhone that was leaked or are they going to redesign all their hard work?

iPhone to Verizon? Why it Wouldn't Benefit Me

There has always seemed to be rumors about the next generation iPhone or 4G to be on Verizon service, breaking away from just AT&T, but if that was to happen it wouldn't affect me. I like in an area of the continental United States where there is really not any good Verizon or AT&T coverage! I have AT&T and am in complete white not blue nor red on the coverage map below:

However, if the iPhone did go to Verizon my connection might be a bit better since there is more red around it than blue. One good thing that would come out of the switch would be that I could get a MiFi, which is a mobile WiFi hotspot. Also, if I happen to get bored of the iPhone, which won't happen, I could get a Droid or another great Android phone.

As always, thanks for reading!

The iPad is not a large iPhone. The iPhone is a small iPad.

I am very excited for the next iPhone…

I think it will have some great features, learning from the iPad; a 1GHz processor, an all-aluminum back (like the first iPhone), and a gorgeous screen. Not to mention it'll come with iPhone firmware 4.0!

Read this article first.

All the past iPhone upgrades have been small. Collectively, all they added was 3G, GPS, a faster processor, and a video camera. Not much to brag about. The Nexus One and Android are a serious threat to the iPhone. While not as elegant and nice, they have many features that some nerds lust about–regardless of the ugly UI. The iPhone needs to stay on top. The first iPhone destroyed competition. The 3G and the 3GS…well…not so much. As Steve himself said, the next iPhone will be an A+ upgrade.

I think with the addition of a powerful processor, the next iPhone will allow multiple apps to be open simultaneously, as well as a 5 megapixel camera, and an incredibly long-lasting battery.

Thoughts: iPhone 4G

The iPhone has grew to become one of the most popular yet powerful phones on the market and after 3 years, it still has room to grow. June 29, 2007 saw the release of the first generation iPhone and now in 2010 we are already talking about the fourth release.

Coming from a UK based point of view, 3G isn't everything. Yes, it may produce a fast and strong connection with the iPhone and the outside world, but I think with the release of the iPhone 4G, Apple should release HSDPA as standard, which has a higher specification of speed and performance. Apple could also extend the screen to it fills upto 90-95% of the unit. It would also be good to see a touch button instead of the physical button, which takes up 10% of the unit. Since it is suitable for iPod quality sound, additional speakers could be place at the top and bottom of the iPhone, giving a much better sound quality.

On the external side of the iPhone, it would be good if Apple slimmed down the unit, giving it a even more refined look. When adjusting the volume on the current iPhone it can be a little fiddly, so defining the buttons would be another good move in the 4G.

I hope you see my post interesting and I would like to see Apple consider the redesign of the iPhone, to make it the revolutionary phone of the decade.
