Brains Behind the Game

Although many years have passed since the inception of the digital revolution, the brains behind the most integral innovations that have made such a revolution possible still migrate towards Silicon Valley. It is no surprise when one takes into consideration the over $3.1 trillion that have been invested in the area only on venture capital since 2000.

If one has a revolutionary idea but is seeking funding for the first time, then there is no better place in the country to be. In 2010 alone, venture capital doled out $22 billion into over 2,700 companies. Of the thousands of companies seeking funding, just over 1,000 of them were receiving funding for the first time in their existence. The most notable startups in the modern age received their start in this general area, adding to the enthusiasm and the idea that Silicon Valley is a constant gold mine for technological innovation.

Mac OS X Mavericks Overview (Video Inside!)

Not long ago Apple released their latest update to the OS X software
line titled “Mavericks”. This new update was going to update some of the software that is already on your mac, and even add some new apps in the mix. Normally these kinds of updates cost around twenty to thirty dollars. In this case however, you can download the latest update from the app store for free. That’s right, this operating system update downloads and installs much like an application and it is free to the public. It can also be used as an upgrade from your older OS to a newer one. Although the price tag is awesome, what exactly did they add to this update that makes it shine from the rest? Let’s get started shall we?

One of the new features Mavericks offers, which is one of my personal favorites is the finder tabs. Normally you would have to open several windows and cycle through them to get from point A to point B to point C and it can become a mess real quick. However with the finder tabs you can open up several tabs in one finder window that you can also cycle through making it much easier to get from window to window. The best way to think of this is like an internet browser with its tab system. That’s exactly how it functions. For me this is useful because of how many windows I normally have open in one usage. So this can benefit other users as well.

Photoshop Slice Tool

Today we are going to take a look at one of the most essential tools in a web designer’s photoshop arsenal, the slice tool. I say this tool is essential because you have to slice images to make them an individual image in a theme or layout in a web design. This allows for you to give that segment a particular property and name to allow you to find it easier in the mix of all your other images. Also in this video I will be showing you how to save for web and devices which allows you to use those images or convert the images for a web format. This can also be essential in decreasing file size to make the image load quickly on the web. I hope you find this lesson somewhat useful. Thanks for watching.

An IPhone Trade-In Program Could Benefit People

I wanted to entitle this post “Don't Drop Your iPhone In The Toilet-Just In Case.” I think this actually could be a good idea. If Apple publicly announces this as an official plan, I'm on board. People could receive money for their working phones and still afford to upgrade.

Current Developments

AT&T already currently pays people up to $200 for any iPhone 4s they own. (The report also mentioned 4ss, which I searched for on the Apple site and found nothing.) According to Ganot, the smartphone purchase percentage could increase by 11 percent from 2011. It's all because of the ability to trade current phones to the store and buy then with no money down.
