After tons of rumors, Amazon finally met our expectations and announced their Amazon Kindle Fire, a 7" Android based tablet. Despite my love for Apple, I'm very seriously considering picking up one of these. Why? And will this be the iPad killer? Watch for my opinion!
Ultimately, I don't think Amazon's Fire is trying to compete with the iPad. With a $199 price tag, the Fire is intended to be a media consuming device. That is the reason I'm interested in it! Since the tablet market emerged, I have wanted something small, cheap and simple to read books, browse websites and watch streaming content on. The only thing that turns me off a bit is your need to be an Amazon Prime member, which requires a yearly fee. What do YOU think of the Fire?
The Amazon Kindle 3 is one of the most stable ereaders on the market. This is Amazon's third attempt at perfecting the ereader, and I feel that they have done an impressive job. This is not to say that other ereaders aren't any good, I feel that ereaders as a whole are a really neat thing, I just feel that after using the Kindle 3 from Amazon, other ereaders will have to work hard at compeating.
There are many unique features about the Amazon Kindle 3, including it's many great tools that come included with the ereader itself, things that have become a standard for most ereaders. Such as, text-to-speech, changing the font and line spacing, samples, and just released today, book lending. Amazon announced today that Kindle users can now lend many of the books available in the kindle store, depending of course upon the publishers permission.
The kindle is overall a very great ereader that boast many features, and of course the Amazon Kindle Store is a very big plus for those of you who shop on Amazon.com to begin with. It connects to your Amazon account easily, and makes reading, purchasing, and lending books as simple as the push of a button.
With 3G connectivity and access to over 240,000 books, blogs and newspapers, the avid reader can't pass this up. The New Kindle 2 was launched yesterdy by Amazon, it sports a very thin and light design and is faster then the previous model. It also has a built in speaker with Text to Speech so it can read just about anything for you. The 3G connection which is free for life with the purchase is fast delivering you a whole book in under 60 seconds. Coming in at $359 it is a little on the pricey side but if you are an avid reader then you will definitely love this product.
