Microsoft Releases Office for iPad, and Cuts Support to Windows XP
Although it has been four years it has finally happened, and was the talk of the tech community last week. Finally Microsoft releases the Office for iPad application, which is now on the top most downloaded applications in the iPad’s app store. It may not be the best of office applications, but it was what people were looking for in an office application. It is free to download but you do have to have an Office 365 account to create and edit documents. But you can read documents with no problem. For a more hand on approach to this cool little application, the link below should help you a lot better than a simple explanation.

Even if you can download this application for free, it does sometimes feel like a downside that you have to have an Office 365 account. But does this one little requirement, kill off the whole application? If you think about it, you get a lot more than just a portable application for your office work. You get the whole Office suite for a simple monthly or yearly payment (depending on package plan), that you can install of five separate devices, and is even compatible for Mac computers. You get more than just something on your device; you get computer applications that can really assist you in your school work or business. For more information on these plan’s go to the link below.

So how many of you still use Windows XP? Well if you still do, I hate to break the bad news to you but as of April 9th 2014, Microsoft will be cutting off all updated support to the Windows XP Operating system. Their security software will be updated for XP only until July of 2015, so you won’t have full protection for long. So how can this affect you? With no more patches being updated for XP, your computer is left at a huge risk if any new viruses come out or is developed for the XP platform. You are more likely to get Malware or virus attacks or even cyber-attacks. So your date is more at risk now more than ever. So, what should you do now?
When reading about this, a lot of people were making dos and don’ts for this kind of thing. They said don’t upgrade to the latest OS, buy a mac, etc. But I am going to give you a simple answer that can help you, but will cost you some money. The saying is, upgrade your equipment every six years. If you’re running outdated software and hardware, it is about time you upgraded to a more modern day computer. Now not a lot of people are a big fan of Windows 8, the two interfaces in one really bother people. For me, after learning how to use it (which only took a week, or a couple hours) it grew onto me. Windows 8 isn’t so much bad, as it is just new. But only you can pick what you like to use. But my advice is upgrading your computer. I’m not going to tell you to use Linux, or to buy a mac, or to buy new Windows Machine. What you upgrade to is your choice. I can only give my opinion, and I love all the Operating Systems.
