Unboxing: AViiQ Portable Laptop Stand

This is the unboxing of the portable stand from Aviiq. Made out of very durable aluminum, this is the thinnest, most portable laptop stand on earth, and it feels and looks awesome! I will have a full review after I use it for a couple of weeks with my MacBook Pro. It retails for $79.95 USD at http://aviiq.com.

Tek Nation Episode 1: Apple Updates Galore

Many of you may know that the Apple.com store was shut down for mantinence yesterday because it received a few updates. The Mac Pro received a much overdue update. In August Apple will be selling a 12 core Mac Pro for a ridiculous price of $4999. But, it is a really fast and powerful machine, that will last you for a long time. Another new update that was very necessary was the 21.5 inch iMacs recieving a spec bump to the intel i3 processors. The Apple LED Cinema Display also received a long overdue update. Come September Apple will be selling a 27 inch LED Cinema Display for $999. A little pricey for a monitor. But, it does feature a built in mic, speakers, 3 usb ports, and other features a standard display would not have. The display also has a gorgeous 16:9 aspect ratio. The last big splash Apple made with their silent updates is with their new Magic Track Pad, which was leaked on MacRumors.com is the Magic Track Pad. It's basically a bigger version of the multi touch Track Pad featured on a MacBook Pro. Now, I'm not really sure why anyone would buy this. But, I will hold back all of the hate before I actually get to experience it for myself.

Tech Survey: July 26, 2010

Today I have a tech survey for you guys. I recently saw David's video to take the survey. Most of the questions are about the Mac, such as: Windows on a Mac, TextEdit, Word, or Pages? Do you use Spaces?

I thought the questions were very cool. I don't think I took the whole survey since I have the 10 minute cap, but the questions I answered were very interesting about my Mac. Do you want to know my answers to all of the 35+ questions? Take a look at the video above.

iPhone: A History in the Making

Remember that day when you got your shiney new iPhone? No, I’m not talking about June 24, 2010 but June 29, 2007. June 29, 2007 was the day when Apple released the phone that would set the standard for mobile devices today. That device is known as the Apple iPhone. The iPhone back in 2007, consisted of 1 page of applications, a SMS app, the phone application, the terrible camera and a bunch of other useless apps. Since 2007, every release of the iPhone has been game changing.

In 2008, Apple released the iPhone 3G. The iPhone 3G featured the revolutionary AppStore, and brought along 3G capabilities via AT&T. In 2008, most of us rushed out to pick up this new iPhone in one of two colors, Black or White. With the release of the iPhone 3G,I knew the iPhone couldn’t go anywhere but up.

In 2009, Apple released the iPhone 3GS. The iPhone 3GS brought a ton of new features including, a video camera, a faster processor and of course, the useless compass app. The iPhone 3GS, included features that the original iPhone should’ve had from day one. Once again, the new iPhone 3GS was available in one of two colors, Black or White. I for one, wasn’t too thrilled about the release of the iPhone 3GS, due to the fact that I’ve had video recording and a compass since 2008 via a jailbreak.

Now for 2010, Apple decided to take the biggest leap since the original iPhone. On June 24, 2010, Apple released the iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 is one of the greatest phones I’ve ever held. The amazing retina display, and the 5 megapixel camera will make any iPhone user go out and spend around $199 for this bad boy. Now, the retina display and the 5 megapixel camera aren’t nearly all of the additions to the iPhone 4. Also included in the iPhone 4 is a gyroscope, 2 cameras, 2 microphones and on yeah, FaceTime. FaceTime is iChat for iPhone basically. FaceTime is video chatting from your iPhone 4, to another iPhone 4 (via a WiFi connection). Honestly I can say that the iPhone 4 has set the standards high, and Apple has been doing that since 2007. The iPhone 4 isn’t just a new phone, but it’s like holding the future in your hands.

Now, as you can clearly tell, Apple, and the technology they produce has come along way since 2007. Every June, Apple announces a new iPhone, and this year I was actually excited to get my hands on one. For 2010, Apple has definitely set the standard high for mobile devices, and I can’t wait to see what we’ll see for 2011.

What's in My Dock? July 2010

This is Alex from ace4vikings on YouTube here today to share with you a tour of my Dock on my MacBook Pro. These are the applications I use regularly on my Mac. I have to say, the application that I use the most is either Mail or Tweetie. I’m a social media addict and I love to keep in touch with people over Twitter. I also love Mail because it is so much easier than logging into my Gmail account. iTunes is also a favorite of mine.

If you’d like to find out more information, please watch the video above. Thanks for taking the time to look at this post.
