iOS 4 Feature Breakdown

Today we will be taking a look into some of the most important features of the new iOS 4. The multitasking is pretty awesome. I also like the folders feature. There are plenty more features I'm in love with so far. If you want to find out my full thoughts, please take a look at the video above. Also, we are about to reach 1,000 subscribers on our YouTube channel. So please be sure to take a look at that.

App Review: Apple Store

This app does exactly what you would think it would. It connects you to the Apple Store wherever you are. With this app you can buy Apple products, accessories, find stores near you and shows any recent front page Apple news. It comes complete with almost every feature of the online Apple Store.

This app has a nice layout that looks similar to the the App Store and the iTunes apps, which is nice. However, I was a little annoyed that it didn’t have the same icon look to it as the App Store and iTunes Store.

Pros:

  • Full acess to the Apple Store
  • Small file size

Cons:

  • It can take a while to load when not on Wi-Fi or 3G
  • Does not have same icon look as iTunes Store or App Store

Overall: 9/10

Top 5 Favorite iPhone Apps

Dragon Dictation - Free

Dragon Dictation is the solution to Apple’s missing speech-to-text feature that Android users have been teasing us with. Dragon Dictation is very simple to use.Simply launch the app, press “Tap and Dictate” and start talking. It even recognizes punctuation, e.g. “Period” or “Question Mark” Afterwards, you can send your text in an email, send it as an SMS or copy it and paste it wherever you would like it on your iPhone. I highly recommend this app if you would like a simpler way to text.

Siri - Free

Siri is basically an all in one information utility and concierge that recognizes natural speech. Saying simple commands like “Best Pizza Places Near Here” or “What’s The Temp. In San Francisco” it will deliver results within seconds depending on your connection strength. You can even voice tweet saying “Tweet” before you start talking, and it will automatically post to your Twitter account. That is my favorite feature of all. If you want to show your friends with your iPhone, download this app and show them what movies are playing in your area.

Red Laser - $.99

Red Laser is a barcode scanning app that helps you find the best price on products. By scanning a barcode, it first identifies the product, then displays the cheapest place to buy the product online, and even shows you reviews for the product you’re scanning. Check out this app if you’re a shopaholic (like me) and am always looking for the best price.

LEGO Photo - Free

Lego Photo is more of a fun app. It lego-izes any photo you take, making it look like a lego creation. Either using the camera or a pre-loaded photo, you can save them to your photo album. If you want a fun free app to entertain you and your friends, check out Lego photo, it’s a lot of fun.

 2DO Lite - Free

2Do is a full featured organization app. I downloaded the Lite version, but there is a paid version that costs $6.99. You can add due dates, audio and pictures. I myself use this for taking notes for blog articles and it works great. It even has built-in backup which backs up your notes to 2Do’s online databases. Since I have the lite version, I recommend both the lite and the full payed. Both are feature rich and will really help you stay organized.

iPhone Now Supports Visa's Wireless Pay System

Earlier this week I wrote an article about Square, a way to accept credit card payments on the go. Well this article is about how to spend money, not make money. DeviceFidelity's has created a case for the iPhone called “In2Pay”, which plugs into your iPhone and allows you to wirelessly pay for credit card purchases using this and Visa’s PayWave System. This PayWave system is currently available at over 32,000 retail locations. This system works using a preloaded microSD card in the case that has all of Visa’s contactless payment applications built in, so you can wave your iPhone over a Visa reader at a grocery store counter and automatically pay for your purchase.
