Jailbreak Released for iOS6

Back a few years ago, there were a lot of people involved in the jailbreak scene but unfortunately things have kind of slowed down over the past couple of months. However, the good news is that a new jailbreak has just been released which is called Evasi0n. If you’ve been waiting for an untethered jailbreak (doesn’t require you to keep jailbreaking your device every time you turn it off etc.) for iOS6 or even iOS6.1 then you’ll be glad to hear about this new jailbreak.

Is Jailbreaking Worth It?

Recently I have been getting the same question again and again; is it worth jail breaking? Some people ask this question and they do not even know what jail breaking is. So before I answer this question I would like to tell you what jail breaking is.

Jail breaking is the process by which you remove the limitations apple has set on its software. This allows users to has access to edit the software and add perks to the device. On jail broken device you are able to change the way apps and icons display, use features from other devices and much more. Jail breaking also lets you download and do things that apple would not want you to do. On an apple device you only have two security options, number code or word code, however on a jailbroken device you can have an android lock, and much more. This also lets you download apps that are not approved by apple.

Now let's get to the actual question – is jail breaking worth it? I would have to say it depends. For an average user jail breaking is a waste of time. Most people do not care that the Siri icon is purple or that you are limited to one lock type. However some may like that you can receive a tethering plan without paying, or that you can use you device with multiple carriers such as T-Mobile. Besides for the user there are other variables in the jail breaking dilemma. If the jail break for you current software is tethered (requires to re-jailbreak ever boot-up) I will tell you strait up that you should not jailbreak. However is your jailbreak is un-tethered (only requires one jail break) then it is up to the type of user. I personally jail broke, and now I am back to the normal iOS. I switched because the good things of jailbroken life are not free and very expensive. Overall jail breaking can be useful for the right person.

Jailbreak iPad 2 on iOS 4.3.3 - Finally!!

Tonight the long wait to jailbreak the iPad 2 ended with comex releasing Jailbreakme 3.0. Jailbreakme.com, the easiest jailbreak ever, returns! If you followed the drama over the weekend a version of this jailbreak was leaked. Comex rushed to finish this jailbreak so for now it only works with iOS 4.3.3. That's no problem as most iPad 2's are on 4.3.3 and if not just update in iTunes. Once on iOS 4.3.3 be sure to sync your iPad 2 with iTunes and backup any photos. Lastly, save your SHSH blob with Tiny Umbrella (if that doesn't make sense just watch the video as it takes only 5 minutes). This jailbreak is super fast and easy. Just goto jailbreakme.com on your iPad 2 and tap the free button followed by a tap of the green install button. In one minute you'll have Cydia. I for one will stay on 4.3.3 when iOS 5 is released this Fall. Even though Apple once again implemented some of the best jailbreak apps (like LockInfo), they still are missing a lot. Excuse me while I drink some more coffee and continue to geek out my iPad 2. It's like I got a new device tonight :)

Redsn0w 4.3.1 Untethered Jailbreak

The Dev Team has done it again. With last night's update to Redsn0w and PwnageTool, there is now an untethered jailbreak for all 4.3.1 iOS devices, except for the iPad 2. Downloading the 4.3.1 firmware took about half an hour while downloading redsn0w and jailbreaking my iPhone 4 took less than 10 minutes. If you need to unlock you'll have to use PwnageTool to preserve your baseband and it will be another 24 hours according to MuscleNerd before the ultrasn0w unlock is updated for this new jailbreak. I was still on 4.1 and was due for an update.

The video shows how simple this was to do, but if you need a step by step you can find it here.
