Get Over Google Reader with Liferea

You must have heard that Google Reader will be shutting down on July 1. Since the news broke, everyone and their aunt have been talking and writing about Google's merciless decision which has left many users disappointed. Still, it's not the end of the world; there are plenty of other applications to choose from, both desktop and web-based. Advice on how to migrate from Google Reader and recommendations of replacement apps are popping up all over the Web. In view of that, it seems appropriate to present Liferea – a simple yet mighty RSS reader for Linux which can fill that Google-Reader-hole in your soul.

RIP Google Reader

How to Migrate from Google Reader to Feedly

With Google's shock announcement that they would be closing Google Reader come July 1st people are now looking for alternatives to take it's place.  It's was even one of my top 10 Android apps to have. One possible alternative to Google Reader is Feedly.

Best Content Consumption and Pull to Refresh is Back

That's right. Prismatic. In my opnion, the best free content comsumption client for your mobile device, as long as it's running iOS. Prismatic provides a tailored experience for content consumption along with some sneaky social integration!

Check it out free in the app store

Here's a quick blurb from another excited user Tobias Looschelders:

The iOS-app Prismatic therefore had everything what i was looking for: I could follow general topics not just specific media. The media which could follow optional and in addition both included online newspapers as well as blogs. Furthermore Prismatic provides both an app as well as desktop access. But a great deal better: it learns. It learns from my personal response (including "likes", saves or forwards) as well as it learns from the response of the whole community using the app. The only bad thing is that i am still waiting for an android version of the app!
