Windows 10 Overview & Thoughts

On Wednesday July 29th Microsoft has finally released Windows 10 taking it out of the Beta form and giving it a full release to the public. If you were a Windows 7 or Windows 8 user, you were given the chance to get a free upgrade by reserving it or pay the $120+ for a copy of the program. If you had a reserved copy you were notified that your upgrade was available, or letting you know that a copy will be available for your computer soon. Most of the delays are due to computer manufacturers preparing drivers for the operating system, or minor bugs being fixed. There is a way to get past the wait, but it requires you deleting some files and forcing the update to your computer. For more of that click the link below.

TeaPot: Create FREE 3D spreadsheets

Our reader Philip Turner has emailed us this great tip and here we are sharing it with you!

I spent 3 hours searching for how to do 3D spreadsheets using MS Excel. I know about multiple sheets, but I wanted something I could visualise, some way of seeing the data in a cube rather than in a series of flat sheets.

I did not find any mainstream spreadsheet that allowed the display of 3 variables at the same time, which was why I needed, x, y and z axes and a 3D spreadsheet. 3D spreadsheets have to be the next BIG market; the only way to manipulate more than 2 variables using mainstream software is to use  a database, there is no visualisation software at all.

I did come across one FREE 3D spreadsheet that appears to be genuinely 3D, but the instructions are somewhat sketchy - Teapot is the name of the program . . . - The download link is at the bottom of that page - VERY compact - works on Windows 7

Browsers You've Never Heard Of: QupZilla

QupZilla iconThe chances are that you are reading this article in one of the five most popular web browsers: Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opera or Internet Explorer. Whichever browser you're using, you've surely heard of the other four, if not tried them at least once in your surfing career.

Of course, “the big five” aren't the only browsers available – there are plenty more for different platforms, and it's great that there are, because it means that the users are given a wider choice.

Joining the ranks of lightweight web browsers like Midori, K-Meleon and Pale Moon is QupZilla – a simple, zippy browser with features that some major browsers don't even have by default.

Smart Defrag 3

)

One of the hassles of using a Windows computer has to defrag your computer on a regular basis. Of course you can always set up a schedule to make that pain staking task happen when you’re asleep, but what we need is a faster but still effective disk defragment application that would not only speed up the process, but explain the errors it had found in a way that almost everyone could understand. As you can probably tell from this video, I did find such an application. Smart Defrag 3 allows for a quicker and more user friendly disk defrag while providing extra resources for you to use. Coming from the Creators of Advance System Care, you know you have yourself a trust worthy product right here. To top it off, it is free to use and download.

Brackets

Today we are going to take a look into a cool little program that makes programming in html a little bit easier. We are going to be looking at the program “Brackets”. This application was coded in Java to make programming for the web a bit easier. Automatically closing tags when you open them allows for a steady paced session. Included with this application is a wide assortment of plugins available at your disposal that should help you define tags or certain variable better. Although it does make programming for the web easier, it doesn’t just cover html. It also covers CSS, JQuery, Javascript, just to name a few. Also included is a live preview so you can see your program in action. There are some live feed changes, like color within CSS as well. So give brackets a try and speed up your performance while getting used to another IDE.
