Koobface: An emerging threat for computer security

Computer security is a big thing in the age of internet. No one wants their private information to go public or their important banking data stolen. Still there are people who intentionally develop malwares that are designed to do just that.

Over the years, a technique that the IT managers have been using to avoid these attacks was to isolate the most important computer systems on a separate platform. But now that we know there are cross-platform malwares, some very dangerous ones among them, the concept of computer security needs a revision. A notable malware among this class is called Koobface.

Double Review: Update Detector & Wise Data Recovery

While I was working on the review for Google Drive a friend of mine came up to me and told me about a site known as Filepuma. Interested I decided to go onto the site and see what they had to offer. Because I am one of those people who does enjoy free applications. After browsing the website for a little bit I came across two particular applications that caught my attention right off of the bat. Those two applications were Wise Data Recovery and Update Detector. At first glance they didn’t look like much, but I never trust the looks of an application.  So after installing both of the applications onto my computer I decided to run the first one that caught my attention first which was the Update detector.

Spotify Review (Video Included)

If you are like me you want music to listen to while you work. But sometimes you don’t have that option if you are on a computer with no music on it. Of course this is always Pandora radio online, but I thought about giving something else a try. After hearing this program mentioned in a tweet from one of my friends and seeing it referenced in some Facebook statues I found the program spotify. This program in a nutshell is an online media player that allows you to search for some of your favorite bands and listen to the music at work or on the go. It’s a free application that is compatible with windows, Linux, Macintosh, android, blackberry, ios, and more. In the video I mentioned that the mobile app wasn’t free, but I have to correct myself. The mobile application is free, but to remove adds from the application does cost money. I apologize for that mix up.....

CCleaner Review (Video Included)

I was having problems with my computer recently and I needed an application that could scan and fix some of the problems I was having. I tried all the virus scans, malware scans, and even spyware/adware scans, and I came to the conclusion that it wasn’t a problem as far as viruses were concern. So I did some research and found out it could have been a lot of stored files that were not being used. So when I was searching for something to fix this problem I remember an application my class was using a while back called CCleaner. What the software does is scans and cleans out your cookies and cache files from your internet history to protect your privacy from unwanted files. Speaking of unwanted files this program also scans for unused file extensions and fixes them.  Another positive side to this application is that it searches and cleans out your registry on your computer. This is a major plus because some of today’s viruses and worms actually hide in your registry and could affect your entire computers performance and even get into your mail accounts sending off random e-mail. Now the question you may be having is “Does it really work?” I can understand the question because it does seem too good to be true, but I can answer that question with a most definite yes....
