Spotify Review (Video Included)

If you are like me you want music to listen to while you work. But sometimes you don’t have that option if you are on a computer with no music on it. Of course this is always Pandora radio online, but I thought about giving something else a try. After hearing this program mentioned in a tweet from one of my friends and seeing it referenced in some Facebook statues I found the program spotify. This program in a nutshell is an online media player that allows you to search for some of your favorite bands and listen to the music at work or on the go. It’s a free application that is compatible with windows, Linux, Macintosh, android, blackberry, ios, and more. In the video I mentioned that the mobile app wasn’t free, but I have to correct myself. The mobile application is free, but to remove adds from the application does cost money. I apologize for that mix up.....

Backdoor into the Spotify Website

Today, I'm going to show you a backdoor into the full US version of the site. Even though Spotify is starting to launch in the US, you still get a landing page and all the order links do is lead you to a closed in ordering page.  Maybe, you want to see what their full US website looks like right now.  Well, you can. Start by Googling the word "Spotify" (without the quotes).

After Googling Spotify, this should be the first result.  To get into the backdoor of the website, just click Mac OS X under the result as shown above.  You'll still have to get a invite to get into the free version of Spotify but this is how to get into the main website for Spotify.

Spotify opens up link to Facebook

I've always loved music and Spotify especially for finding some of the unusual genres. Recently, this past week Spotify released a new version of its software for Mac and Windows (Linux if run under Wine) that spices up the user interface, social connectivity and overall peformance.

Spotify did 'scrobble' your played tracks over the the Last.fm platform that allows your friends to see what you're playing when you're listening to it. Now, Spotify have extended the usage to social network giant, Facebook. The new UI offers a profile for yourself, along with your Facebook profile photo pulled in and all of your friends using the Spotify application, whether they are part of the Spotify page or not.

After using it for just over an hour, I have become much a fan to the new changes and even more so to the Facebook feature. You can also import your own music library from the standard operating system music libraries such as iTunes and Windows Media Player.

You can try it if you live in SwedenNorwayFinlandthe UKFrance or Spain and unfortunately I don't have any invitations left.
