Steps to Publishing a Kindle eBook

Many people wonder how to get their masterpiece published. In todays market it is just as important, if not more so, to publish for eReaders. I recently wanted to publish a book that I spent the summer writing and working on, but found that it's a lot more complicated than one would expect. I thought it was simply taking a Microsoft Word file that you have saved and uploading that to your publisher, I quickly found out differently. Luckly I am here to help you take the steps necessary to publishing your literature digitally.

Step 1 - You will want to have your document saved on Microsoft Word for easy file conversion. File type is a big deal when publishing to the Amazon Kindle store. I recgommend saving your file as a .PDF

Step 2 - You will need some type of software to convert your file to a .mobi file type. The software that I found that best works is Calibre, it's free, easy to use, and works on all operating systems! (CLICK HERE TO GO TO CALIBRE)

Step 3 - Sign up for Amazon Direct Publishing, just do a google search for KDP and you will need to fill out the required information in order to be a kindle publisher. You will need to give your tax information because come tax time, you are expected to file taxes on your earnings, don't worry though, Amazon said that they will mail all publishers who made a profit of any kind information that makes it easy to file based on your earnings. You can still file as an individual too, so don't worry about having to file as a company or business.

Step 4 - Submit your .mobi file to Amazon Direct Publishing and wait for approval. You will need all of the information on the title page to match the metadata and information you give, such as the editor, publisher, and photographers.

It's a time consuming process, but the outturn is great! Check out the book that I just published called Jim.

Amazon Kindle 3 Review

The Amazon Kindle 3 is one of the most stable ereaders on the market. This is Amazon's third attempt at perfecting the ereader, and I feel that they have done an impressive job. This is not to say that other ereaders aren't any good, I feel that ereaders as a whole are a really neat thing, I just feel that after using the Kindle 3 from Amazon, other ereaders will have to work hard at compeating.

There are many unique features about the Amazon Kindle 3, including it's many great tools that come included with the ereader itself, things that have become a standard for most ereaders. Such as, text-to-speech, changing the font and line spacing, samples, and just released today, book lending. Amazon announced today that Kindle users can now lend many of the books available in the kindle store, depending of course upon the publishers permission.

The kindle is overall a very great ereader that boast many features, and of course the Amazon Kindle Store is a very big plus for those of you who shop on Amazon.com to begin with. It connects to your Amazon account easily, and makes reading, purchasing, and lending books as simple as the push of a button.

Amazon Kindle Gets Social Networking Skills

The Amazon Kindle was a revolutionary device when it was released. Then the iPad came along. Offering an e-reader in addition to a ton of other features that really gave buyers another device to consider. Now Amazon is trying to get their thunder back by introducing social networking updates that will enable Kindles to have both Twitter and Facebook support. Amazon has stated that these updates will allow users to share book passages on their various Twitter and Facebook profiles. Obviously, these aren’t the same kind of social networking capabilities that we’ve seen on some other devices, but this may be beneficial to some users out there who can make good use of these updates. These updates also allow users to lock their Kindle with a password and zoom PDF files. Amazon has said that these updates have already been sent to some Kindle users and is hoping for everyone to have these updates sometime in late May. Whether or not we’ll see this come to other e-reader such as the B&N Nook or the Sony E-Reader is yet to be known.
