Apple Device Combinations

Basic

MacBook Air 11”/13” | Mac Mini | MacBook Pro 13” | iMac 21”

iPhone

For the computer, all you need is the smallest model if you’re looking for a basic set up, but I would try to at least get the 13" model of the MacBook Air because the 11" model is not very powerful. Also, most people need a cell phone so why not get an iPhone.

Intermediate

MacBook Air 13” | MacBook Pro 13”/15” | iMac 21”/27”

iPhone

iPad

MacBook Air 13" will most likely work, but if you can afford it, go for the MacBook Pro and iMac. Also, paying more for a larger screen always pays off. Lastly, an iPhone is portable, but does not work well if you are trying to write a paper. That’s why I suggest you also get an iPad.

Professional

MacBook Pro 17” | iMac 27” | Mac Pro

MacBook Air 11” | iPad

iPhone

A top of the line MacBook Pro and iMac will work okay, but if you can afford it, go with a Mac Pro. Also, aMacBook Air 11” is a great second computer, especially if you have an iMac or Mac Pro because they are not portable. If you can’t afford the MacBook Air, then I would get an iPad because it still has a lot of functionality and is portable. Lastly, if you need a phone, get an iPhone.

Mac App Store Demo

The Mac App store was released January 6, 2011 and was made available to all Snow Leopard users. So, you'll need to get Snow Leopard to have the Mac App Store. The Mac App Store is a lot like the one you'll find on an iPad or iPod touch, but you will find actual Desktop Applications, not just games. I believe the Mac App store will be the way Apple distributes their iWork and iLife updates from now on. The Mac App store is hooked up with your iTunes account, so you won't have to go to a developer's website and pull out a credit card to pay for it. I think the Mac App store is great and it has a lot of potential!

The Incident for Mac

Yesterday, the Mac App Store finally hit the user reach and it is flourishing. There have been over a million application downloads in the first 24 hours according to Apple. Today, I'd like to give you a look at one of the apps in the store. This is The Incident.

The Incident is a fast paced, retro style game that is very fun to play. Originally developed for iOS it has come to the Mac with the Mac App Store. The theme is to avoid falling objects as the travel down the screen by using the arrow keys and spacebar. You have seven levels to beat and then you find out what is causing the objects to fall. The graphics are downright superb, the amount of work is really shown with the amount of pixels showing. The Incident is selling for $2.99 in the Mac App Store.

CES 2011 - What We are Expecting

With CES about to kick off in Vegas tomorrow, alot of people will be wondering what will be announced/shown off in the event, and that is what I'm going to talk about now very briefly.

First off we are expecting total "Tablet" domination at the event. Since the release of the Apple iPad last year many companies have been drawing up plans to compete with the product, hence Samsung's release of their Galaxy Tablet which is Android based. Also HP have started shipping their Windows 7 Tablet called the HP Slate.

As with 2010's CES conference I am also expecting 3D to be a big hitter at the event aswell. With talk of Nintendo 3DS (Which I very much doubt Nintendo will go public with the product at this event) being 3D glasses free, I would expect companies to bring other 3D products which do not require the usage of 3D glasses.

4G, the next installation to the mobile internet. This is almost certain to be introduced by various companies at this years CES. With various 4G devices already in the market today, I would not be suprised if even though its almost certain to be announced in the CES event that companies will keep this to a low aspect.

Ofcourse there are many many other products to be announced in the CES event.

Tour of a Geek's Desk

I've recently noticed a trend on YouTube. People are showing their setups. A few weeks ago I wanted to post a video on my setup. But I decided to wait until after Christmas in hopes that I'd receive gifts that would make my setup better. A few highlights of my setup are; a 13" MacBook Pro, a Dell ST2010 monitor, and an iPad. In no way am I trying to brag about my setup, I'm very fortunate for what I have.
