Verizon Samsung Stratosphere Review

Needless to say, Verizon Wireless has been pushing out more Android phones over the last few months than anyone can keep track of. One of the more or less popular releases was the Samsung Stratosphere. The Stratosphere will seem fairly similar to anyone that is familiar with Samsung's previously released 'Epic' (released exclusive to Sprint). In a way, the Stratosphere is the first of its kind. It is the first phone on Verizon's network with the combination of a physical QWERTY keyboard and 4G LTE capabilities.

In this review, I cover the key points of the Samsung Stratosphere. Sharing its strengths as well as its weaknesses. Is the Stratosphere worthy of being your next phone?

Adobe Kills off Flash Support for Android

Ever since last year, Android owners could argue the fact that their phones provided an experience iOS users did not have - Adobe Flash. Until now; Adobe has officially announced that they will no longer support flash development for the Android platform and will look further toward HTML5 development. Adobe has stated that they will be, "shifting resources to support even greater investment in HTML5". Though, Adobe will no longer support native flash for Android, they will not be completely stepping out of the flash development game.

Our future work with Flash on mobile devices will be focused on enabling Flash developers to package native apps with Adobe AIR for all the major app stores. We will no longer adapt Flash Player for mobile devices to new browser, OS version or device configurations. Some of our source code licensees may opt to continue working on and releasing their own implementations. We will continue to support the current Android and PlayBook configurations with critical bug fixes and security updates.

In this video, I state my opinion on Adobe flash on mobile devices as well as HTML5 support. Feel free to leave a comment with your opinion on this move by Adobe.

Siri for the iPhone 4S Demo & Review

This is a video demonstration of the Siri app that comes stock on the iPhone 4S. Siri is a personal assistant that's geared towards helping the users experience with your iPhone a more productive one. In this video, I demonstrate a few of the key features that are currently available for Siri. The "Reminders" app, which was recently introduced with the release of iOS5, has seamless integration with Siri. The ability to use Reminders with Siri creates a simpler means of scheduling and reminding the user to perform certain tasks throughout the day.

Siri also provides the ability to send a text message (via voice) to a person, which would come in handy if texting while driving. The intellect of Siri allows it to realize your location and serve up answers to your questions such as "What gift should I get my mother for her birthday?" (As I ask in the video). The Siri application will find your current location and bring up a list of gift shops. But what would artificial intelligence be without a hint of sarcasm? ..I've asked Siri a series of quI hope you enjoy this video, thanks for watching.

iPad 2: How to Enable Multitouch Multitask Gestures

Before the release of the Apple iPad 2, there was speculation and several rumors floating around that Apple intended on removing the home button from each of their iOS devices. These rumors surfaced once a developer beta build of iOS reached the public, showing off multi-touch gestures incorporated in the iPad's software for multitasking. These gestures included four finger swipes, as well as a five finger pinch motion. The five finger pinch gesture would direct the user out of their current app and back to the homescreen. This gesture was the basis of the rumors that future iOS devices could be without the original home button. It can be predicted that Apple will eventually incorporate these multitask gestures in a future iOS update, but whether they will choose to remove the home button from their iOS devices remains to be seen.

In this video, I provide a tutorial and demonstration on how to enable multi-touch guestures on your iPad. This option is compatible with the first generation and second generation iPad.
