Today I've got a quick post about a few good tweaks for Cydia (when you jailbreak your iOS device, Cydia will install on the device) The first tweak is AndroidLockXT which lets you have the Android unlock screen where you draw a pattern, instead of the "slide to unlock" unlocking process. The next one is called Barrel, which let's you have different transitions when you swipe to go to you're next page of apps. I think the standard swipe is pretty stale, so this is an awesome tweak in my eyes. The last one is Infinidock, which let's you have more than the standard four applications in the dock. I think it's kind of useful. So, those three tweaks you can get in Cydia. Hope you found this helpful and will make iOS a better experience for you!

Yesterday, the very much anticipated new digital news publication from Rupert Murdoch and News Corp, The Daily was released. The Daily is one of the applications that brings the newspaper to iPad. The cost for getting the app to where it is now was about $30 million, with a budget of the newspaper is $500,000 daily. Murdoch strongly believes the app is going to revolutionize the way users consume the news.
The Daily holds over 100 pages of content, HD video, hi-resolution photos, all the aspects of the print newspaper and even Sudoku and Crossword Puzzles. Each morning, new content is pushed to the application. With the rate at which news occurs and breaking news flashes, The Daily will drop in the new content right as it happens. To get the new paper everyday you must purchase a subscription. The weekly subscription is just $0.99 and $39.99 for the year. The subscriptions are a new feature in the App Store that Apple wants all digital publications to use. The app, itself, is free with the subscriptions added on. As of now, a free two week subscription is running.
My thoughts on The Daily: The Daily had quite an amount of hype leading up to the release and this has caused many people to be very underwhelmed with the app, just as some skeptics were with iPad. In my opinion the app has many good and interesting features like in-app voice comments and the 360º photos, but there are many things that need to be fixed. Scrolling through pages is rather slow and quite annoying at times. The actual news content is alright, but I would have to say that I prefer the likes of The Huffington Post and The New York Times. Page previews are low quality, but look better when opened. The biggest problem with The Daily, is the amount of crashes. So is it revolutionary? As of now I really can't say so, yet. I do believe that The Daily may soar to unmeasurable popularity, but we must give it some time for now.
Down below is a video hands-on with The Daily from my YouTube channel, TechVetica. Thanks for reading.
I recently noticed that my iPhone 4 was not being backed up. After a little while, I realized I wasn't the only one with this problem. To see if your device is being backed up and to fix the problem:
1. Open iTunes with your device connected.
2. Right click on your device- If you see Back Up on the list of options, you're fine. If you don't, then continue following these steps.
3. Quit iTunes.
4. Open Terminal and paste this: defaults write com.apple.iTunes DeviceBackupsDisabled -bool false
5. Restart your computer
As of right now, I don't have a fix for PCs. If you do have this problem and you're on a PC, first try reinstalling iTunes. If that doesn't work, try emailing or calling Apple support.
With all the talk going around about Apple launching the iPad 2, I thought I'd share my most wanted feature: iMovie.
It's already predicted that Apple are going to add at least one camera, hopefully HD, to the iPad's successor. Whilst that's all very nice, I really hope that Apple have plans to bring iMovie to the iPad, whether they chose to include a camera or not. Let's face it, if something can be done on the iPhone 4, chances are you can do it on the iPad. Well, apart from texting and making calls obviously, but let's not be silly now. There are also rumours that Apple intend to add a USB ports and SD card slot. Even if they don't iMovie could still be used by being able to either:
Today I'm giving a review of an iPad case called the Incase Convertible Magazine Jacket. It costs $49.99 from the Apple store. It only has a couple of cons. The cons are; it has a cheap feeling material and it get's dirty very quickly much like the iPad case by Apple. However there are pros as well. First, your range of motion with the 9.7 inch screen isn't limited at all, which is a huge deal to me. Another pro is great functionality. You can prop the case up to view videos, type e-mails, or play a game more conveniently. Overall this is a good investment if you'd like something simple.
