Skype Video Calling for iPhone

FaceTime for the iPhone 4, iPod touch, and Mac changed the way we communicate with each other on a daily basis. It revolutionized human relationships. Not only can you ask the person your on the phone with, how they are, but you can actually see how they really are feeling. The only negative thing about Facetime is that you have to own an Apple product with a front facing camera.

Skype is a website that made free video calling between computers with a web cam. Their intention was Apple's exact intention with iChat. Well now iPhone 4 and iPod touch users can finally get in on the action. After a long and anticipating wait, Skype has finally announced free video calling on the iPhone 4/ iPod touch Skype app. So now, we can all take the basis of Facetime, and use it with anybody that owns a web cam and a Skype account. All you have to do is make a free Skype account, and download the free Skype app from the App store.

Skype App "My Thoughts"

Possibly one of the biggest IM service has now come to the iPhone as a free app!!. Yes I am talking about the new app called Skype which is currently really big on the market. They have brought this app out with a lot of great features, one of which is the ability to call someone using Skype Credit which you can purchase from the skype website. So even if you get a iPhone with contract you can still have it on Pay as you go with this app. Here are my thoughts on it:

The Big Floor for Apple's Market Or a New Perspective On Phoning People?

This is a big floor I think for the AT&T Market because you can get free calls if your friend has a iPhone and gets the Skype app, because you can ask them to go online when you are going out and if you want to call them you get a free call by them being on Skype. Although my thoughts on that are not all "bleak" because eventually IM networks will roll out apps and Phones like Skype have and you will be able t call people for free if they are online on your list. Thats the Power of Social media right there, and pretty soon that will be the way everything works I reckon.

Using SMS Constantly and going over the amount you should be paying for?

Now you don't need to pay extra with the Skype Chat thats in it too!!, you can chat with your mates constantly for free using this tool. Its easy to use (like everything is on the iPhone) and best of all its not a pain in the ass.

Bad Things:

1) Your Skype Credit gets Ran out really Easily with just one call (and bear in mind I had 3 skype credit on it). With a normal "Pay as you Go" Phone you can get at least 3 calls out of it with 3 credit and another 5 texts.

2) The look of it is certainly Sluggish, skype need to open up there spaces a bit and get a little bit more packed into it.

3) Calling People takes ages, I mean it took me 5 mins to call someone, ye my house lol, com on Skype.

And Finally........

Its basically the same layout really of the Phone app because it shows you your Missed and Received calls on it so its kinda the same principle as the iPhone itself. You can edit your Contact info on it (obviously) which is the Only "Self" part if the app if you get what I mean.

So Apart from the floors on the app its a good one I mean 3 floors can be easily be fixed with just a update really.

So I give it ★★★★ out of 5 Stars, Good But needs updated a bit. "Good App, Recommended to Skype Users across the Country"
