Heello new social network from TwitPic

Heello.com has just landed, and looks an awful lot like Twitter. In the past few months Google+ is taking on Facebook, Twitter is taking on TwitPic and TwitPic is taking on Twitter with new platform Heello. I was in that registration process lightning fast and got the username @jack, I was expecting it to be gone but when the green tick came up, I've never hit confirm so fast.

At present the site seems to just be a clone of Twitter but the developers are saying that much more is coming, @meltingice has also hinted at the use of SMS as reason for the 140 character limit on Pings (effectively tweets). He has also stated that business features are coming soon. Having been a member for about an hour now, I'm excited as to where this could go. It's a really exciting time to be working in the tech startup world. Although I can't hep but think that products are going in and out of fashion faster than clothing! The Heello blog claims that they are trying to change the way that people comunicate and have a bunch of new products in the pipeline which I'm sure means Apps amongst other things.

Noah Everett founder of TwitPic and Heello told TechCrunch "“Everything we’re working on right now is under wraps for now, but mostly everything we’re building helps people communicate better." With the new Facebook calling app, O2 Social Call app and Google+ meetups, everyone seems to be set out trying to change the way that we all communicate. We'll just have to sit back and see which ones truly take off.

Empire Avenue - Where's it Going?

Who's heard of Empire Avenue? I can garuantee that if you've managed too find yourself on this website, TekSocial, you know what Empire Avenue is. Everyone knows social networks are taking over the internet, but something like EA really has the potential too help social platforms change the game, once again.

The basic idea of the platform is you are investing in brands, and people. Using the virtual currency known as "Eaves" you buy and sell shares in people you believe offer social value online. Your hope is obbiously for the share price too increase. Share values are judged on social presence and activity. For example, Twitter activity is judged on retweets, favourites etc. and YouTube videos by Comments, Thumbs Ups.

The exciting thing is though, that this idea of a social stock market is taking power, and changing, one of the most powerful forms of marketing: word of mouth. How? You want the shares you buy in people too increase, right? Well, think, why did you buy those shares? Because you believe those people add value, their content is valuable, and you want too share it, and help spread that value. That's word of mouth, but get this, as you spread the word, more people are going too start wanting too invest in that person, bumping up the share value. See where I'm going (apologies if I'm explaining badly)? You benefit from helping the people you value. Everyone wins!

So what do you guys think? Are you using EA, and do you agree it's a game changer? Excited too hear your opinions...

Fancy investing in me while your at it?

Vote For A World Traveler

Hello everyone,

I have a personal favor to ask from all of you. A personal friend of mind, Tiffany Maddox (Maddoxhardcore on youtube) has entered the STA World Traveler 2010 competition. Here's a little bit of information on exactly what that is.

"The 2010 World Traveller Internship gives two people the chance to traverse the globe experiencing a number of travel adventures and document their experiences daily with videos, pictures and blogs. En route they’ll also collect the best travel tips from the locals they meet to share with the world.

Our Interns will be responsible for describing everything they do with the ultimate goal of inspiring others to become World Travellers!

Traveling side-by-side, they’ll travel through Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Brazil and the US capturing the essence of life as a World Traveller."

Here is her audition video:

I promised her I would do everything I could to get the video out there. Because the first part of the audition is vote based, it would mean a lot to me if you took a second to vote here. Of course, there is no pressure, but I think this is actually a good test of the power of social networking. So, if you want to go beyond voting, you can spread the word to your social network and get them to vote as well.

Can We Escape Social Networking?

Today, we are in a generation where social networking is basically pwning the internet. With services such as Twitter,Facebook, and Myspace and a fine plethora of others, we can’t escape social networking, or can we? That is my question to you. Can we escape social networking? Now understand, I am not trying to drift people off the path of social networking. I am a member on Twitter and Facebook. So believe me, I am not discouraging social networking. So please reply with a comment or response with your opinion. Thank you!
