Tek Nation Episode 5: Is the Epic 4G Epic?

Tek Nation is back again. Today's topics were Facebook's new "Places" feature, the Samsung Epic 4G, Intel's purchase of McAfee, and more! Personally I'm not a huge fan of the Places feature on Facebook. I don't really know why anyone would need to use it. There are already other networks for location sharing such as Gowalla and Foursquare. I think Facebook Places will fail.

Samsung will be releasing the 2nd 4G phone to the US market on August 31, 2010. It's called the Samsung Epic 4G. The first 4G phone to reach the US market was the HTC Evo 4G. The phone features a 4 inch multi touch display with a full slide out qwerty keyboard, front facing camera, and a 5 MP camera with an LED flash. The phone also runs on Android 2.1. Personally I'm getting sick of all these Android phones. It seems like everyday there's a new phone running Android that comes out.

T-Mobile's Project Emerald: HTC Glacier - Dual Core Smartphone

Recently, T-Mobile has hinted towards one of their future endevor's entitled "Project Emerald". In Quarter 4 of 2009, T-Mobile had announced "Project Black", which entailed great budget plans for current and future T-Mobile customers. The buzz that follows this year's "Project" is that T-Mobile will be unveiling a new HTC smartphone to compliment their brand new HSPA+ network. With the addition of the Samsung Vibrant, it would seem that T-Mobile is attempting to take a step forward in the competitive smartphone race. It's obvious that T-Mobile has been behind in the race with its fellow carriers for having "The Best Smartphone" available, so hopefully this "Project Emerald" will help usher T-Mobile ahead of the pack.

It can be assumed that this rumored phone will take advantage of T-Mobile's HSPA+ network, considering the fact that T-Mobile does not currently have a HSPA+ enabled phone available on their network.

In this video, I discuss T-Mobile's Project Emerald, as well as the rumored HTC Glacier.

Opera Mini 5: Android App Review

Personally, as a year long Android user I have to say that I am particularly amazed at how great the Android OS has come along in this past year. Wednesday morning, the company that has created the somewhat popular Opera browser have released their beta version of their new Opera Mini Browser for the Android OS. It has been known for quite some time how the default internet browser on android devices are lacking in substance. It would seem that Opera has stepped up and proven that their Opera Mini 5 Beta browser is a contestant amongst the few popular browsers on the Android OS such as the Dolphin Browser. Here is a video of my review of the Opera Mini 5 Browser for Android, hope you enjoy!
