Steps to Publishing a Kindle eBook

Many people wonder how to get their masterpiece published. In todays market it is just as important, if not more so, to publish for eReaders. I recently wanted to publish a book that I spent the summer writing and working on, but found that it's a lot more complicated than one would expect. I thought it was simply taking a Microsoft Word file that you have saved and uploading that to your publisher, I quickly found out differently. Luckly I am here to help you take the steps necessary to publishing your literature digitally.

Step 1 - You will want to have your document saved on Microsoft Word for easy file conversion. File type is a big deal when publishing to the Amazon Kindle store. I recgommend saving your file as a .PDF

Step 2 - You will need some type of software to convert your file to a .mobi file type. The software that I found that best works is Calibre, it's free, easy to use, and works on all operating systems! (CLICK HERE TO GO TO CALIBRE)

Step 3 - Sign up for Amazon Direct Publishing, just do a google search for KDP and you will need to fill out the required information in order to be a kindle publisher. You will need to give your tax information because come tax time, you are expected to file taxes on your earnings, don't worry though, Amazon said that they will mail all publishers who made a profit of any kind information that makes it easy to file based on your earnings. You can still file as an individual too, so don't worry about having to file as a company or business.

Step 4 - Submit your .mobi file to Amazon Direct Publishing and wait for approval. You will need all of the information on the title page to match the metadata and information you give, such as the editor, publisher, and photographers.

It's a time consuming process, but the outturn is great! Check out the book that I just published called Jim.

Steve Jobs, 6 Weeks to Live: My Thoughts

I don't usually post personal blog posts on TekSocial, but this I might just to gather everyone's opinions.Jobs, back in the day Please, set aside 5-10 minutes of your time to read and comment on this post.

It has been announced in various news articles that Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, who took time off to focus on his health, has been given 6 weeks to live. This is due to the fact that he has pancreatic cancer, which grows on part of your digestive system. For the faint hearted, the pancreas is a 6-inch long gland and is shaped like a leaf. It provides insulin, unless you're diabetic and releases hormones which revolve around digestion.

Earlier on, I watched a video Chris Pirillo recorded and published to YouTube, claiming that when he announced the news to his near 92,000 followers on Twitter, a 'kid' messaged him back saying that he will 'celebrate his death'. Why? I'm unsure.

What Jobs has created, a company that only recently claimed the top spot of the computing market, a music device range that has changed the music industry and the people around us, why must someone come to their senses and say such a negitive and disgusting thing. Sure, he may be a kid, no younger than 13 unless his parents don't know he's on Twitter but use some common sense at least, especially when you're talking to a person you don't know in person who has so much power on the internet.

If Jobs pulls through his hard time, or not, we should all remember what Steve has created. A range of products that has made us, 'Think Differently'.

Outlets to Go 300 Review

Today I’m giving you a review of the Outlets to Go 300 for Laptops by MonsterPower. This gadget retails for $29.95 at www.monstercable.com.

Aesthetics

This device has a nice smooth black finish, which gives it that minimal effect to it. Makes it great for blending it which wall surfaces.

Minimal Space

The greatest thing about the Outlets to Go is how small and portable it really is, weather your going around the corner or around the world; it fits in all laptop bags, carry on bags or where ever you place your electronic devices.

Very Stable

It has survived numerous drop test, which makes this very stable in a real world scenario, in which you may drop your bag.

Cons

There are a few cons. I wish it had four outlets instead of 3 just in case I had an extra device I would like to plug in and also more usb ports if you're a geek like myself, you have more than two gadgets that charge via USB.

Other than that, this is a great little gadget to carry around. I give it an 8 out of 10.
